Central Florida Ballet Announces New School Director and Company Administrator

ORLANDO, Fla – July 11, 2024 – The Central Florida Ballet announced today that Ms. Anamarie McGinn has been appointed as School Director and Company Administrator, effective August 5, 2024.

Ms. McGinn joins the Central Florida Ballet after a 19 season career with the Orlando Ballet, retiring in May 2024 as the company’s longest-serving dancer.

“We are thrilled with the appointment of Ms. McGinn.” Says Central Florida Ballet Executive Director, Kailey Klopfenstein. “Ms. McGinn brings a wealth of knowledge to the Central Florida Ballet with her extensive experiences as a company artist, faculty teacher, rehearsal assistant, and mentor to younger artists. We know she will be a wonderful asset to continue developing and enhancing our programs; creating a positive impact for all generations of our aspiring students and our performing artists.”

A Florida native, Anamarie began her Classical Ballet training with Ballet Florida, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She received training from prestigious schools all over the United States such as; American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet School.

At the 2006 American Dance Competition, Anamarie was awarded the Gold Medal as well as The Fernando Bujones “Excellence Award.” She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida in Liberal Studies, graduating with honors in 2007. In addition, she served on Orlando Ballet’s faculty for 15 years teaching; Ballet, Pointe, Variations, Contemporary, and Jazz.

Anamarie’s performance highlights with the Orlando Ballet include featured roles in Michael Pink’s Dracula, Jorden Morris’s The Great Gatsby, Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena, Kenny Tindell’s Casanova, George Balanchine’s Serenade, as well as original Contemporary works by acclaimed choreographers Jessica Lang, Stephanie Martinez, Peter Chu, and Heath Gill.

About Anamarie McGinn

A Florida native, Anamarie began her Classical Ballet training with Ballet Florida, in West Palm Beach FL. She has received training from prestigious schools all over the U.S. such as; American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet School. After a season in the pre-professional program at Ballet Florida, she attended Orlando Ballet School’s summer intensive in 2003, and accepted a position as a Trainee. Anamarie was quickly promoted to Apprentice with the company, under the direction of Fernando Bujones, and was then promoted to a Company Artist and continued her professional career with Orlando Ballet for 19 seasons, dancing under Fernando Bujones, Bruce Marks, Robert Hill, and Jorden Morris. Some of Anamarie’s performance highlights include; “Mina” in Michael Pink’s Dracula, “Stella” in Annabelle Lopez’s A Streetcar Named Desire, “Myrtle” in Jorden Morris’s The Great Gatsby, “Jennifer” in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena, “The White Cat” in Chistopher Stowell’s Sleeping Beauty, and “Madame de Pompadour” in Kenny Tindell’s Casanova. Anamarie has danced featured roles in George Balanchine’s “Serenade,” “Who Cares?”, and “Valse Fantasie,” as well as original Contemporary works by acclaimed choreographers Jessica Lang, Stephanie Martinez, Peter Chu, and Heath Gill. In 2006, at the American Dance Competition, Anamarie was awarded the Gold Medal in the Senior Classical division as well as The Fernando Bujones “Excellence Award.” Anamarie received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida in Liberal Studies, graduating with honors in 2007. During her tenure with Orlando Ballet, Anamarie also held the title of Company Rehearsal Assistant, where she worked closely with the company and Artistic Staff to stage choreography and run rehearsals. Anamarie received her ABT Teaching Certification, and was on the teaching faculty for Orlando Ballet School for over 15 years teaching; Ballet, Pointe, Variations, Contemporary, and Jazz.
